WOODHAVEN, Mich.Interview with Dr. Lucretia Greear of Woodhaven Animal Hospital:

Q: Tell us something about yourself that people might be surprised to know

A: I am fascinated by butterflies and love raising monarchs and swallowtails in my spare time. My garden is a certified monarch passing station. (This means it must have a minimum of 10 milkweed plants, consisting of at least two different varieties, and it is an intentionally managed garden that provides food and habitat for people struggling monarch butterflies.)

Q: Are you a dog or a cat (or something else)?

A: I love all animals, but I especially love dogs, cats, chickens and butterflies!

Q: Did you grow up with pets? What animals do you have now?

A: I grew up with pets and currently have a German Shepherd named Amaya, cats named Rachel, Effimus, and Gusar, a rabbit named Hugo Boss, and quite a few heritage breed chickens.

Q: What inspired you to open your first business?

A: I started my first business so I could practice integrative veterinary medicine, including hyperbaric oxygen therapy, acupuncture, chiropractic care and herbal medicine, as well as assisting with rescue groups and outreach work .

Q: The best and hardest part of your job

A: The best part of my job is treating animals, especially difficult cases that go well, and working with my incredible staff, without whom I could not be successful. The hardest part of my job is when the treatment fails.

Q: Advice for someone who wants to start their own business

A: Anyone who can make a living doing what they love should start a business. Put your heart into it and go for it!

Q: How did you hear about Vote 4 the Best? Have you ever won before?

A: Our hospital was nominated in 2018, our first year of operation. We’ve won five years in a row now.

Q: Do you have anything to say to the people who voted for you?

A: Thank you very much for your support! I wouldn’t be able to own a successful practice doing my dream job if it wasn’t for all of my wonderful clients and patients!
