Supervisor Barger Announces LA County Contract with Pasadena Humane for Animal Care and Control Services in Targeted Regions – Pasadena Now

Supervisor Kathryn Barger announced unanimous approval by the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control’s Board of Supervisors on Tuesday to enter into a contract with Pasadena Humane to provide regional animal care services to residents of Altadena and unincorporated La Crescenta, East Pasadena and San Pasqual.

“I am thrilled the county is working with Pasadena Humane to provide these essential animal care and control services to the communities of Altadena and La Crescenta, East Pasadena and San Pasqual,” Supervisor Kathryn Barger said.

“Pasadena Humane’s proximity to these areas will help pet owners retrieve lost pets faster and make returns easier for residents who find lost pets. Additionally, this partnership is expected to help improve public safety responses, as officers will be readily available to respond to calls regarding aggressive dogs, animal abuse or neglect, law enforcement assistance and other animal emergencies.

Under the contract approved by the Board of Supervisors today, residents of these targeted regions will continue to receive consistent, regionally located animal care and control services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from Pasadena Humane. .

The nearest Los Angeles County Animal Care and Control Animal Care Center is currently located in Baldwin Park, 18 miles from Altadena, 26 miles from unincorporated La Crescenta, and 12 km from East Pasadena/San Pasqual. This distance is a burden on county residents who need essential animal and pet services, such as lost animal recovery, aggressive animal management and animal emergencies.

Currently, Pasadena Humane provides similar services to the adjacent cities of Arcadia, Bradbury, Glendale, La Canada Flintridge, Monrovia, Pasadena, San Marino, Sierra Madre, and South Pasadena.

His shelter is located at 361 South Raymond Avenue in Pasadena.
