Minneapolis Animal Care & Control will waive adoption fees for National Adoption Weekend

Update: Friday’s event was such a success that all animals were adopted. As a result, the city canceled the rest of the adoption weekend.

MINNEAPOLIS– Minneapolis Animal Care & Control is waiving adoption fees for all cats and dogs beginning Friday as part of National Best Friends Adoption Weekend.

All animals through adoption will be given to good homes on a first-come, first-served basis from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Friday through Sunday at Minneapolis Animal Care & Control at 212 17th Avenue North.

The only cost to the new pet owner is the pet’s license. All pets are vaccinated, microchipped and neutered or neutered.

Animal Care & Control reviews all applications before deciding whether to approve adoptions and follows national guidelines designed to remove barriers to animal ownership and increase animal placement.

Animal rescue partners Carver Scott Humane Society, Pet Haven and Ruff Start Rescue will also be at the event to showcase their adoptable animals. Those wishing to adopt from partner rescues will go through each rescue’s adoption process.
