Bluebonnet Animal Hospital Animal of the Week: Meet Gabby from Austin Dog Rescue!
Meet Austin Dog Rescue’s Studio 512 Bluebonnet Animal Hospital Pet of the Week: chatterbox!
Austin Dog Rescue says: “Gabby was rescued from the Lockhart shelter on June 12. She is about 6 months old, 25 lbs. and a very sweet and fun puppy. She loves affection given that she was a wanderer who probably lived most of her life outdoors. She’s excited to greet people and jump around, but we’re working on that and other basic ways.
“Gabby is recovering from non-contagious scabies (Demodex) and is enjoying her frequent medicated baths and coconut oil massages. She is healing before our eyes and we are documenting her incredible transformation!
“Gabby is adjusting well to indoor life with her own comfy bed, nutritious food and treats, a huge toy box and endless love and affection. She gets along great with her 3 new foster siblings, and they teach her all about birds, squirrels and deer in her large fenced yard.
“Gabby learned dog gate, ‘sit’ and name recall on her first day with us and we are working on ‘down’ and other basic commands. She is motivated by pleasures and eager to learn. Did we say Gabby loves toys? She also wants to play with the dogs, but when they’re not in the mood, she can entertain or relax on her own. Gabby fetches but hasn’t quite learned how to bring it back regularly. She sleeps quietly in the crate at night and naps there during the day. She uses the dog door to get in and out of the house.
“Gabby is still a puppy, and we’re working on manners, leash walking and socialization skills!”
