Beaumont Animal Care is over capacity with 108 dogs and 60 cats

It’s raining cats and dogs at Beaumont Animal Care, and the agency is running out of places to put them.

Beaumont Animal Care has a maximum capacity of 96 dogs and 40 cats. As of 10 a.m. Saturday, the shelter had 108 dogs and 60 cats.

“This number has already increased, and we expect it to continue to increase,” said a Facebook post from Beaumont Animal Care. “We receive between 5 and 25 animals a day and we lack space.”

All of the shelter’s main kennels have two to four dogs per kennel and can no longer be housed there, according to the Facebook post.

“Local rescues have been amazing and have taken as many dogs as possible to our shelter, but they are full and running out of space faster than we do,” the Facebook post read.

The shelter is looking for people to adopt or foster the animals.

“The 108 dogs in our shelter are mostly medium to large breed dogs,” the Facebook post read. “If you are looking to adopt a dog of this size, come to BAC and see our available animals.”

Beaumont Animal Care is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
