SCVNews.com | Castaic animal care center cuts adoption fees to ’empty shelters’

The Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control is pleased to join NBC4 and Telemundo 52’s annual Clear the Shelters animal donation and adoption campaign for the eighth consecutive year. This year, this event will take place from August 1 to 31.

During this month-long initiative, Animal Care Centers across the county joins at least 70 other animal shelters and nonprofit rescue organizations to raise awareness about pet adoptions and help raise funds to support animal welfare.

Since its inception in 2015, this unique initiative has harnessed the power of television and multiple digital platforms to help find homes for tens of thousands of animals across the country.

Throughout August, adoption fees at LA County animal care centers, including Castaic Animal Care Center, will be waived for cats and reduced to $20 for all dogs. Both fees will include adoption, sterilization, vaccinations and microchipping, but not licenses or sterilization deposits if required.

“A big thank you to NBC4 and Telemundo 52 for spreading the message that adoption is the best option to help homeless animals find forever homes,” said director Marcia Mayeda.

The Castaic Animal Center is open, without appointment, from Sunday to Tuesday, Thursday to Saturday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sun-Tues/Thu-Sat and Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
