McKamey Animal Center honors Betty White with special adoption offer and more

McKamey Animal Center plans to honor the memory and legacy of Betty White Jan. 18-23 by making all adoptable dogs available for a $17 adoption fee, in recognition of what would have been the 100th anniversary of the Hollywood star on January 17.

MAC’s $17 Betty While Adoption week stems from a viral movement that began after the Hollywood star passed away on Dec. 31. The #BettyWhiteChallenge encourages everyone to honor their heritage and love of animals by supporting their local animal shelter.

“We have already received dozens of donations honoring Betty’s memory. We are truly humbled and honored to be the choice of so many to honor an animal welfare icon like her,” said Lauren Mann, Director of Advancement at MAC. Donations to support MAC’s rescue work can be mailed to MAC, dropped off in person, made on MAC’s social media pages, or given online at www.mckameyanimalcenter.org.

In addition to Betty White’s $17 Adoption Week, MAC will be partnering with local BeCaffeinated coffee shops to celebrate the actress’ legacy. BeCaffeinated will be giving away any “Betty White Mocha” size for $5, with all proceeds going to MAC. Additionally, BeCaffeinated customers who plan to adopt a new dog from MAC next week can bring their coffee pouch to MAC and receive a free dog collar and ID tag along with their reduced adoption fee.

MAC is also honored to partner with Chattanooga’s Nooga Paws pet store to celebrate Betty White. New adopters who post photos of their newly adopted pet online and tag @McKameyCenter @be_caffeinated and @noogapaws on social media platforms will automatically be entered for a chance to win a Nooga Paws dog treat bundle.

MAC adopters are no longer required to make an appointment to come and meet adoptable animals, but those wishing to schedule an appointment or get more information should visit the MAC website at www.mckameyanimalcenter.org/adoption or call the adoptions team at 423-305-6514. Everyone entering the shelter must wear a mask due to ongoing Covid-19 restrictions.

McKamey Animal Center will be closed Monday in honor of the Martin Luther King Day holiday. The MAC will be open for adoptions Tuesday to Friday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
