Hastings Animal Hospital Utilizes Features of Larger New Facility

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) – Companion’s Choice has been in the Hastings community for over a decade.

Recently, the pet hospital moved to a brand new facility. The new venue offers more than three times the space of their previous location.

Companion’s Choice was founded in 2009, starting its business in a 3,000 square foot building at West 2nd Street and North Laird Avenue. In October 2021, Companion’s Choice moved into its new location near Lake Hastings. The state-of-the-art facility includes six examination rooms, space for imaging practices, surgeries and dental care. There is also a separate building for cats and dogs, as well as a large lawn for animals to exercise during their stay.

With more space for patients, customers and staff, Companion’s Choice veterinarian Audrey Christensen said she appreciates the upgrade.

“We have dedicated areas for dental care and surgical work and treatment areas which allow us to be more efficient because we have more space and we don’t meet all the time,” Christensen noted. “So it allows me to practice in a fun environment and also does a good job with our patient care.”

Christensen also said that after opening the doors to their modernized facility, they saw a higher than usual number of patients walking through their doors.

Practice Director Alyssa Binderup said overall the new location is superior to the previous one.

“The Second Street location was extremely busy, it was not uncommon to find or have an accident on this corner at least once a month…and it is really very difficult if a pet comes off when the owner tries to haul it in. It just wasn’t a good place to be,” Binderup told Local4 News. “This new neighborhood, yeah, we’ve got 281 and Burlington right there, but at the same time, there’s a lot of space, it’s less busy, we’re back in our little corner.”

The new Companion’s Choice is located at 820 W. 21st St. in Hastings.

Companion’s Choice staff invite the public to experience the place for themselves. They are having an open house from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 9 at the veterinary hospital. There are plans to have bouncy houses, food, demonstrations, tours and more at the event.
