Police said a driver’s car veered off the road and jammed a tree before it collided with the building. The 46-year-old driver of the car was taken to hospital. Police said he was in critical condition.

Investigators said the animal hospital building had significant damage, but none of the damage appears to affect the structural integrity of the building.

Channel 2’s Kristen Holloway checked into hospital on Wednesday. Extensive damage included tire tracks on the ground, a door completely torn off, and debris strewn across the property.

Sharon Prather told Holloway she couldn’t believe all the damage when she came to pick up medicine for her dog.

“It’s a bad curve when you go through it,” Prather said.

Prather said she hopes the community will rally behind the hospital owners.

“It’s great that they were there for me when I first had Kiara because I kind of inherited it,” she said. “I’ve had it for 2 years and that’s when I started bringing it and when I started bringing it I didn’t have a lot of money and they helped me.”
