The animal center will be closed on Sundays

Due to staffing issues related to COVID-19 and difficulty filling vacancies, the Austin Animal Center will be temporarily closed to the public on Sundays beginning January 23.

Direct animal care staff and volunteers will be on hand to provide care.

The center, at 7201 Levander Loop, Building A, will remain open for adoption and recovery from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and for fostering from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Owners wishing to pick up their pet on Sunday can contact 311 and request an animal protection officer.

Meeting with pediatricians

Baylor Scott & White will offer virtual meetings with pediatricians in 2022.

The events will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on January 19, February 23, March 30, April 27, June 1, July 6, August 3, September 7 and October 12.

The following locations also offer one-on-one in-person appointments: Baylor Scott & White Clinic – Austin Northwest, 9800 N. Lake Creek Pkwy., Suite 200; Baylor Scott & White Clinic – Buda, 5330 Overpass Road, Suite 100; Baylor Scott & White Clinic – Cedar Park, 910 E. Hazardous waste to collect

The City of Georgetown will host a hazardous waste collection event from 3-6 p.m. Wednesday, January 19 at San Gabriel Park, 425 E. Morrow St.

The event will be available to up to 300 Georgetown solid waste customers who have solid waste service through Texas Disposal Systems. Residents must remain in their vehicle during contactless collection. Staff will unload items from the back seat or trunk of the vehicle.
